Is WiFi en nog meer snelheid belangrijk, dan kun je ESP8266/ESP32 bordjes overwegen zoals de RobotDyn D1R2. Moet het heel erg compact, dan is de SparkFun Pro Micro een goede optie. De Micro is dus te prefereren boven de Nano. De Pro Mini is weggelaten omdat deze ook uit de handel is (er zijn nog wel veel klonen beschikbaar), en omdat de Pro Mini een compact 328P bord is zonder USB poort, dus nog lastiger in gebruik. De Zero/M0 zit er niet in omdat dit bord veel te duur is voor wat het biedt. De DUE is completer, sneller en kost flink minder dan de Zero. Wel is de DUE wat groter. De Arduino MKR serie vraagt nog verder onderzoek, en zijn lokaal niet af te halen. De MKR serie lijkt een reactie op de ESP borden: goedkope krachtige WiFi geschikte ontwikkelmodules. Het T-shirt is voorzien van het logo van de Philips P2000T, onze eerste thuiscomputer die we in 1983 hadden, die draaide op een Zilog Z80 8-bit processor op 2,5 MHz. Alle Arduino's zijn op eigen kosten aangeschaft en uitgeprobeerd en de genoemde afhaalprijzen gelden voor Eindhoven. De keuzes zijn volledig op basis van eigen onderzoek. Geluid is sinds dit filmpje sterk verbeterd, ik gebruik nu een Lavalier microfoon i.p.v. de shotgun die ik eerder gebruikte.

I2C communications is a very important topic, so important that I’ve decided to do several videos about it. In this first video, I will explain what I2C is and how to use it to communicate between two Arduino's. I2C is a two-wire, low-speed serial communications format that was originally developed by Phillips (now NXP) in 1982. Although its original use was to allow integrated circuits in televisions to communicate with one another it has evolved into a standard communications method used by a myriad of devices. I2C works with the concept of “Master” and “Slave” devices. The master device provides the clock signal and initiates communications with the slaves. An I2C bus can have multiple masters and slaves, but only one master can be active at any given time. We have used I2C devices in lots of projects and tutorials before. Today we will use I2C to communicate between two Arduinos. In future videos I will show you more about using I2C: Creating your own I2C devices out of common sensors and small Arduino's. Communicating between Raspberry Pi and Arduino with I2C. Using multiple masters on an I2C bus. Today we will just cover the basics. We will first exchange information between two Arduinos and then we will use a potentiometer on one Arduino to control an LED on a second one via I2C. So what the heck is this thing called Arduino? Well, Arduino is a tool that helps you control electronic stuff with code. So if you're building a house, you'd probably go grab a hammer. Well, if you're gonna build a project using electronic stuff, grab yourself an Arduino. But what do I mean exactly by electronic stuff? Well, let's make two big general groups. Inputs and outputs. Inputs are devices that gather information, and outputs are devices that have some action in the world. So for inputs, think of things, like temperature sensors, light sensors, touch sensors, flex sensors, humidity sensors, infrared sensor, distance sensors. Just to name a few. Then you have things like outputs. DC motors, stepper motors, servo motors, LEDs, LED strips, buzzers, speakers, LCD displays, OLED displays. The list goes on. What Arduino can do is stand in the middle of these input and output devices and control them with some cool logic that you get to create. So Arduino can be used to read inputs and control outputs. Okay. So now you have a general idea of what Arduino is. It's a tool to control electronic stuff. Great! Okay. But how do you actually get started using Arduino? What do you have to do? So here's what you're gonna need. We're gonna talk about the big three. It's what I like to call the Arduino trifecta. You've got Arduino hardware, the Arduino IDE, and the actual Arduino code that you're gonna need to write. So first, we have the physical component of Arduino, which is called an Arduino board. There's a bunch of different types of Arduino boards out there. When someone says Arduino board, it could mean a number of these different circuit boards. In just a little bit, I'm gonna tell you exactly which one to go by if you haven't purchased one yet. And here's some quick good news. If you have bought one already, it's probably gonna work just fine. Now, all Arduino boards share one thing in common. They have a microcontroller on them. A microcontroller is basically a really small computer. So when you use an Arduino, you're really just using a microcontroller. The microcontroller is what enables us to read those different inputs and control those outputs. So again, when somebody says Arduino board, they're talking about something physical... How to make a 16x16x16 LED CUBE at home with Arduino platform


This video is to give some insights in creating a very large LED CUBE. I modeled this cube and construction jigs in fusion 360, led Driver PCB is made with KiCad. Code is programmed in PlatformIO using the Arduino Platform. The dome is made from acrylic, I ordered that by size and glued it together with chloroform. All black plastic was printed on my CR10S-pro and glued with chloroform. I have a custom PCB with a Teensy 4.0 mounted on it. Only 3 pins of the Teensy are used to drive 32 channels with 128 leds each. The refresh rate of the display and the animations is 178 frames per second. Everything is non blocking and refreshing the display is done with DMA taking zero processor time. There also is an esp8266 and a touchscreen connected to the PCB, that will need to be programmed at a later time. Code and Gerber files are available for free, link is in the video. Analog servo motors are inexpensive little powerhouses that can be perfect when you're designing something that needs to move. They pack a lot of torque for their size and their shaft position can be pretty accurately controlled. We will start out by taking a look at how analog servo motors work and what kind of signal we’ll need to control them. We will also learn how to read the specs so that we can choose the best servo motor for our application. There are two types of servo motors we will look at - conventional servos that rotate 180 or 270 degrees and continuous rotation servo motors. Then it's time for the experiments. We will use a couple of the example sketches written for the Arduino Servo library to show just how easy it is to control a servo motor with an Arduino. We will also examine a method of controlling LOTS of servo motors, the PCA9685 16-channel PWM controller board. As its name would imply this board lets you control 16 devices like servo motors and it interfaces to your Arduino or Raspberry Pi using the versatile I2C bus. And if 16 servos still isn’t enough you can cascade up to 62 of these boards to drive an unimaginable 992 servo motors with just one Arduino! I’ll settle for a more reasonable 4 servo motors, the 4 servo motors in the MeArm that I built in an earlier video. I’ll show you how to build a controller for the MeArm using an Arduino Uno and a PCA9685 board. We will examine the use of two types of LCD displays - the common LCD1602 display module and a popular LCD Keypad Shield for the Arduino. We’ll also see how to use the I2C adapter for the LCD1602 display module. LCDs are a very simple way to add display capabilities to your Arduino project. They are inexpensive, easy to use, and very versatile. They also don’t consume a lot of current so they are ideal for battery-powered projects. I'll show you a couple of ways to interface an LCD with an Arduino, including the use of an I2C adapter. If you’re not familiar with the I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) bus it’s a very versatile method of adding sensors and peripherals to your Arduino using only a few wires. I’ll give a brief explanation about the operation of the IC2 bus in the video. To use the I2C adapter we'll make use of a library called NewLiquidCrystal. I'll show you how to install it, you'll find the link to this library in the article at 🤍 The library is actually a replacement for the Arduino LiquidCrystal library so you can use it for all your LCD sketches, not just the I2C ones. We will also build something practical while we are at it - a digital temperature and humidity gauge. This will make use of the I2C adapter and the DHT22 Temperature and Humidity sensor. The video, and the accompanying article, will also show you how to use a very common LCD Keypad Shield for the Arduino Uno. The neat thing about this device is how the pushbuttons are wired. I’ll explain that and show you a demonstration sketch that you can build upon for your own projects. The Pico W has the same pinout and form factor as the original Pico and has WiFi capabilities. Raspberry Pi also released a new UF2 file and several samples using microPython with the new WiFi chip. However, although they did release a C SDK, there was no update to the Arduino IDE for the new microcontroller. But you CAN use the Pico W with the Arduino IDE by using a new boards manager file that covers virtually every RP2040-based board. And today, I’ll show you how to install that for the classic Arduino IDE 1.8 and the newer IDE 2.0. After installing the new boards manager, we’ll give it a test. Then we’ll see how we can use the new WiFi features to control LEDs and servo motors with a web-based interface.
