More Sega love! This time, the Sega Genesis aka Mega Drive. List was created by the good folks over at Retro-Sanctuary who know their stuff (🤍 Note that wherever possible, I used the North American names/release dates of titles.
Best sega genesis games of all time. Classic Megadrive gems to add to Genesis Mini like Sonic,Streets of rage, Aladdin,Golden axe, etc. NO sports games/Japanese OR PAL releases. I found enough games in NA releases only, although one or two PAL exclusive games are good enough to make the list. 00:00 1989 2:10 1990 7:13 1991 18:38 1992 28:40 1993 42:54 1994 56:55 1995 1:04:35 1996 1:05:25 1997

A playthrough of Sega's 1991 beat 'em up game for the Sega Genesis, Streets of Rage. Played through as Axel on the normal difficulty level. The good ending is shown. Of all of the series that were spawned in the wake of Capcom's success with Final Fight, Sega's Streets of Rage (or Bare Knuckle, as it was known in Japan) series was quite arguably the best, and most popular. The first SoR impressed with the relatively large number of moves that could be pulled off (it was extremely similar to the equally easy but versatile controls pioneered in Final Fight) and it's genius implementation of a back-hit, two-player co-op play, and though the graphics were a bit squat looking, the game put tons of them on-screen at once. For 1991, this was great stuff. However, the real star here is Yuzo Koshiro's soundtrack. I don't think I need to tell anyone what an amazing musician he is, but the SoR games really were showcases for the Genesis sound hardware, on both the artistic and the technical levels. It changes tone constantly to suit the scene, and it drives some amazingly bass-laden electronica throughout. For anyone that wants to hate on the Genesis's sound capabilities, here's a huge dose of stfu. When a master like Koshiro headed the sound design, there's little mistaking how much the hardware could truly do. And for anyone that might be interested, there was a slightly modified version released for the Sega CD on the 5-in-1 disc that came with the system. In that version, the sound has been beefed up - most notably the increases sample quality for hits, yells, etc. I personally don't like that version - the cleaner samples seem a bit out of place, but hey, whatever floats your boat. SoR is a fantastic game, and for the genre on the Genesis, was only ever outdone by its direct sequel. If you like beat 'em ups and have never played this Sega classic, there's no time like the present. Get to it! _ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. Footage from the former. 2. Kai Magazine's Metal Dragon was good too. It's an overhead run n gun similar to Sega's Rambo First Blood Part II for the SMS. 3. There are more difficulties here to really jack up the challenge. You can really make this a hardcore survival horror. 4. The physical cart is expensive. Go the Steam route if that's too much. 5. Gameplay length appears to be 4-6 hours first play through. Not bad for a Genesis game of any era. 6. There is a playable demo of Life on Earth as well. 🤍

There was also a reboot released on various platforms like the PC and PS1. It was imply called Frogger, as well. 3. I truly believe to this day that most of 1998 and 1999 is when Sega truly lost the market and spelled its own doom. With no presence in the US console market, consumers abandoned Sega in droves. Out of sight and out of mind, Sony and Nintendo lapped up Sega fans by the millions in their absence. 4. NBA Live 98 was released almost a year before Frogger. The Genesis market really ended in 1997 for all intents and purposes. 5. Frogger for the Genesis was only released in the US.

One of the best-selling games on the platform. Could a 16-Bit Western-developed game really be that good? I'm now on Patreon! Ending Music during the credits is from Batman for the Sega Genesis. SLX Logo By: Jan Neves YouTube Page - 🤍 Intro by Evan S. 🤍 Episode Notes: 1. Captured on the Mega SG. 2. I'm actually not a huge fan of the type of music in this game. I recognize it as technically sound, I just wanted something more upbeat and with more bass. 3. This one has grown on me over the years. I love the pick-up-and-play nature of it. I use to knock it for lacking Shinobi III's depth, but after some consideration, I actually prefer it to stay more of a platformer with some mild action elements. Particularly since it was aimed at a broad audience. 4. Tommy Tallarico was part of the music team for this one. 5. There were also Game Boy, NES, Amiga, DOS, and Windows 95 versions of this game. The SMS/GG version is radically different. 6. The Sega CD was supposed to get its own version of Aladdin but it never materialized. 7. The Game Boy Color release came out in 2000 and is based on the Genesis version. 8. If you are in the market to own this game, it's often no more than $20 complete. 9. This was developed in just 10 months' time(planning to physical release). 10. The Genesis version has seen multiple reissues over the years. There is a shitty cardboard box version that was done for the Majesco Genesis 3 launch, and an unlicensed release done by iam8bit in 2020.

The Sega Game Gear was absolutely awesome when it released in 1990 and brought new life to the huge library of Sega Master System titles. It never quite lived up to the same level of success as The Nintendo Gameboy but its color screen and exclusive hits made it a very compelling alternative and a wonderful way to kill some down time while traveling or waiting around before school. After falling for Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, I discovered Chiki Chiki Boys for the Sega Genesis. Despite some visual similarities, it wasn't quite as close to Dragon's Trap as I'd hoped. I used Game Genie codes for infinite ammo and life in a few places. I did this so you could see the weapons fire consecutively for more prolonged periods and to see the background effects in the savanna. While playing to actually beat the game, you need to conserve ammo for the right moments. 3. The raptor sees a stage lineup in a different order. You'll end the game on the cargo ship fighting another raptor. 4. Kill the pteranodons as soon as they appear in the aviary. Otherwise, they will carry you back to the nest. 5. The raptor's double jump acts as a secondary attack. It's extremely helpful against the helicopter on the savanna stage. 6. This game came out around the time Sega switched the cardboard boxes. I didn't own it for years for that very reason. 7. This game has no opening cinematics. You get the story from the instruction manual. Even the ending scene is just a brief image and a credit crawl.

The life of the Sega Game Gear chronologically. I've found a new bit of energy for doing top 150-300 videos so will hopefully bring some more in the new year of MUCH more popular consoles but for now you'll have to make do with just the Game gear. 0:00 1991 11:44 1992 21:16 1993 32:32 1994 48:14 1995 1:02:39 1996 1:04:50 1997

If your Game Gear has any issue with power, picture, or sound it's most likely due to faulty capacitors. This Game Gear had a dim picture and did not have sound. After replacing the capacitors it works good as new! TikTok/IG/FB 🤍VideoGameRestoration Email- VideoGameRestoration🤍Gmail.com

I've covered these guys before, but now it's time to see which one is the best in the series. Will it be Revenge of Shinobi? Shadow Dancer? Or Shinobi III? I pick my favorite and explain why. All games captured on the Mega SG. 2. On Shadow Dancer's bonus stages, don't shoot the ninja. You'll get a 1up every time. 3. Revenge of Shinobi is one of the first games I had for the Genesis, so you can understand my love of it. 4. I find Shadow Dancer so much harder than Revenge. That 5th room and end boss are both nightmares, especially on hard. 5. Shadow Dancer in the arcade remained locked there for years. Only recently with the release of the Astro City Mini, has it gotten a release elsewhere. 6. Shinobi Legions(Shinobi X, ShinShinobiDen) on the Saturn is basically a digitized version of Shinobi III. The gameplay is very similar. 7. There was a 3D Shinobi on the PS2 that wasn't half bad. 8. This series has been long dead for too long. It needs a new entry badly.
