5-Minute Beginner Drum Warmup With Emmanuelle Caplette

Practice along with Emmanuelle Caplette as she goes through this 5-minute beginner drum warmup on the practice pad! If the tempo is too fast for you, use the video controls to slow it down or set your own metronome to a speed that works for you. These exercises are great for developing your single strokes and double strokes, as well as basic accents. Once you’ve worked through this warmup, try some of these exercises from the legendary drum book, Stick Control! And – as always – it’s more fun to practice rudiments along to songs, so enjoy this epic Kaz Rodriguez track (or find one of your own that’s at a good tempo for you). 4 Beginner Warm-Ups On The Drums

Learn To Play Drums In 90 Days: ► 🤍 As a beginner drummer, you might wonder what you’re supposed to do when you first sit down on the kit. Before you get into your practice routine, you should get the blood pumping and the joints and muscles moving. Why do drummers warm-up? Well, if you’re about to play something that requires a high level of physicality (like speed on the bass drum or smooth movement around the drums), your body should be loose and comfortable behind the kit. Some people call these rudiment burns – and no matter what name you give them, here are four warmups that any beginner drummer should add to their practice routine. 1. Single strokes Set your metronome to 60 BPM and start by playing 16th notes on the snare drum. Then move these single strokes around the drums in groups of 4 (on the snare, on the hi-hat, on the different toms) in whatever order you like. Once you’re comfortable with this, add in alternating bass drum (right foot) and hi-hat (left foot). The goal is to eventually get faster while making sure each note is clear and even. If 60 BPM is too slow (metal drummers, we’re looking at you), you can increase the tempo. If 60 BPM is too fast, reduce the tempo. 2. Double strokes With your metronome going, play double strokes on the snare drum. Use the rebound from the drum as much as you can. Start moving the doubles around the kit in groups of two (RR LL RR LL) and in any order (toms, hi-hat, ride, etc.). Finally, add in the alternating feet as you did in the first warmup. 3. Single paradiddles You know the drill now! Start with paradiddles on the snare (RLRR LRLL), then move around the drums before adding in the alternating feet. 4. Everything together Time to mix and match. Play singles, doubles, and single paradiddles around the kit. Whether you do 1 bar or 2 bars of each – or something else – it’s your call. These are good exercises to set the foundation for improving your speed and endurance. Learning these basic rudiments will help you in any style of drumming! Follow us: ►Facebook: 🤍 ►Instagram: 🤍

Grab the in-depth practice routine PDF, complete with every exercise & example plus extra tips for success. Do yourself a favor and download it. It’s FREE! 🤍 If you’ve been practicing and practicing and making no progress… This video is for you. I’ll show you a specific practice routine to use that leads to serious growth, even if you only have 30 minutes each day to practice. You can do this! The trick isn’t knowing WHAT to practice. It’s knowing HOW to practice. Once you know the right approach to an exercise you already know, you start making rapid progress and new growth without actually learning anything new. When you apply this mindset to everything you’re already practicing (plus a new thing or two), you start getting consistent growth on the drums every day. This practice routine is simple, and it just contains 3 parts. But don’t leave out any one of these 3 parts if you want to achieve professional, well-rounded skills. Have fun! 3 Must-Know Drumline Warmups For Kit Drummers

Learn Drums Here: 🤍 Free Lessons: 🤍 Our Favorite Music ProductsL 🤍 The fastest way to get faster on drums: ►🤍 Dorothea Taylor has a series of daily warmups she’s used to train hundreds of drumline drummers, and now you can steal some of them for your own playbook. When her drumline would go through these exercises together, the goal would be to have every tap sounding like one person and “not like a bunch of rocks falling”. Challenge a friend or two and run through these as a unit to see how cleanly you can play together. Whether you’re a kit drummer or a marching drummer, these moves will get your blood circulating, your singles and doubles up to speed, and your brain ready for whatever’s next in your practice or session plan. Grab a practice pad and play along! 00:00 Introduction 01:04 - 8 on a hand Play 8 beats on each hand. That’s it. The main thing to keep in mind is getting that full rebound when you throw the stick down. Kick it off at a slow tempo, then bring it up to speed. 03:34 - Double beat A variation on an exercise called the ‘ha-ha’, this is a great doubles workout. You’ll be playing groups of two on each hand with the following sticking: RR RR RR RR R R LL LL LL LL L L RR RR R LL LL L RR RR RR LL LL LL RR LL RR LL RR LL RR LL (Watch the video to see how it’s supposed to sound) 06:31 - Hug-a-dig-a-burr When you hear it, you’ll know why it has such a funny name. Another great exercise for doubles, you can alternate it with singles. Dorothea wants you to make sure you’re holding your sticks properly, all fingers on the stick, and that you start slow. It takes time to learn and improve – and the patience is absolutely worth it. Follow us: ►The Drumeo Beat: 🤍 ►Facebook: 🤍 ►Instagram: 🤍 Follow Dorothea Taylor: ►Instagram: 🤍

WARM UP Tips voor Drummers (Beginner) | DRUMLES

Succes! - Yorick ►Deze les is onderdeel van de GRATIS BASISCURSUS. 8 Bass Drum Warmups That Prevent Injury

Faster Hands & Feet (in 10 days) ► 🤍 Have you ever done a soundcheck so long before your set that you aren’t warmed up anymore? Or have you ever gone from 0 to 100 and pushed yourself so hard you pulled a muscle? It’s always a good idea to get your limbs moving and blood flowing before you get on stage or start a long practice session. Here are 8 simple warmups you can do to prepare your feet for the good times ahead. If you aren’t behind your kit: 1. Heel down toe taps Make sure you’re sitting at around the same height as you would on your throne. Plant your heels on the floor and tap your toes Like you’re playing heel down. You can do this with alternating feet or tapping in unison. Try it for a minute straight if you can! You want to feel a bit of a burn. 2. Heel up toe taps The opposite of the last exercise, plant your toes on the ground and tap your heels, making sure your toes don’t move. You can do this with both feet at the same time or alternating. Can you keep it going for a minute? 3. Feet up toe taps Lift your foot so it’s hovering, and tap your toe on the ground while keeping your heel up. It’s harder to do with two feet because it requires extra balance, so try doing it with one foot at a time. 4. Toe stretch With your feet on the ground and legs at a 90 degree angle, pull your toes up as high as you can without lifting your heels off the floor. Hold for about 7 seconds and feel the stretch in your shins. Now move your feet back 1-2 inches and do the same stretch. After that, move your feet back another 1-2 inches. You should now have about a 70 degree angle behind your knees. Do the stretch again – you won’t be able to lift your toes as far, but you’ll feel it. 5. Ankle pivot Plant your toes on the ground, then use your heel to swivel your foot around (keeping the toes planted). Do it with one foot, then the other. If you’re behind the kit: 6. 8th note rock groove Keep 8th notes going on the bass drum while you play a basic rock groove with your hands (8th notes on the hi-hat and snare on two and four). You can also remove the bass drum on the two and four. 7. Triplet gallop This groove has a half-time feel and is great for working on your heel toe or slide technique. Put 8th note hi-hats over a snare on the four, and have the bass drum fill in the rest of the triplets (check out the video for a demo). 8. 16th note doubles This exercise has you playing a two-stroke pattern at different points on the grid. Again it has a half-time feel with the snare on the four. You should spend at least 5-10 minutes warming up before you play. These exercises don’t build strength or speed or control, but they’re great for getting your limbs moving and blood flowing. Remember, don’t push too hard…you’re just here to warm up!
