Stop your Land Rover Discovery from breathing in its own Diesel Farts!! aka Exhaust gases!! By removing / bypass the EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION valves. Faulty EGR valves?? don't bother with EGR cleaning etc just cut them out!! Cheap and Easy!! AND on the LR3 no reprogramming needed. Some say this is an MOT fail? After I did mine it passed the emissions test.. Just! But I live in France so I can't say for other countries etc. This is an easy modification with many benefits... Apparently?? so I thought I'd give it a try and share the process and results with you guys. This kit is compatible with TDV6 2.7 models with the 10th digit of the Vin number 6 or 5. If the Vin number is 7 or higher the kit will likely fit but the MIL will remain lit to indicate an EGR fault. For other Land Rover discovery repairs see the playlists. OH and for the record I didn't really stick the pipe up my...??? Yep
Are you having issues with your EGR? Let's solve them! What is an EGR though? EGR stands for "exhaust gas recirculation". The EGR system does just that, it recirculates exhaust gasses from the exhaust, into the inlet manifold of the Discovery TDV6 which then goes into the combustion chamber. This is to help reduce vehicle emissions. Over time the EGR valve and intake can become blocked by the gasses which have recirculated as they cool down. The problem can then become apparent in many ways, the two most common being either low boost and poor performance or an EGR position fault. As the EGR valve struggles to close a position fault can occur but on occasions, this fault does not show up and instead a low boost error can show and even be felt as the boost pressure is now escaping through the now always open EGR valve and straight into the exhaust, completely missing the combustion chamber; reducing performance. Two solve this there are two solutions, one is to replace the faulty part with a new item which is costly and the same problem can occur with time. The second solution is to clean the EGR valve and block the EGR pipework with some metal plates which stop the exhaust gasses from being recirculated into the inlet manifold. If you chose the second solution upgraded ECU software needs to be installed to prevent a check engine light, this can be opted for with either stock power or with Stage 1 power. This car had the EGR Delete software with Stage 1 power installed, lifting output to 212HP & 360lbfts. Как скорее всего вы уже успели понять, система EGR принимает участие в работе основных систем Ленд Ровер и удаление ее не всегда лучший вариант для выхода из ситуации, когда клапан не исправен и его необходимо заменить. Удаление клапана EGR никак не влияет на повышение мощности при выполнение Чип-Тюнинга Ленд Ровер. При резком ускорении и наборе скорости, когда двигатель выходит на пиковую мощность, клапан ЕГР находится в закрытом состояние. Удаление клапана ЕГР может привести к неисправности системы впуска по причине избыточного давления наддувочного воздуха в момент когда Вы убираете ногу с газа и согласно этому может лопнуть патрубок наддувочного воздуха или клапанная крышка, которая и является впускным коллектором. Удаление клапана ЕГР приводит к повышению температуры горения в камере сгорания. При интенсивном стиле вождения данный факт может губительно отразиться на поршневой группе двигателя Вашего Ленд Ровер. I am by no means a mechanic. But this is how I removed the EGR valve from my 2008 TDV6 2.7L discovery 3. I hope this helps others on how to do it.

If you have one rounded off screw, from your cooler to you EGR valve, this video will show you how to remove it without having to drain the radiator
We see a large amount of both Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery 3's with the 2.7 TDV6 engine fitted with EGR faults. Blanking these off causes more problems, and is now an MOT fail. We properly diagnose the system, and if required we replace the valve and clean out the cooler unit.

I got engine maintenance warning light on my dashboard. I used my iCarsoft V3.0 to diagnose and found P0489 fault triggered it. I cleared the fault but later another P0405 fault on A Circuit came up. A circuit is right hand side. So I have taken both EGR valve out and will be replacing both. In the meantime I did a quick video on how to quickly check if the valve is functioning or not. In my case right valve was not clogged that much but the bearing of the rotating shaft seems to have worn out. Hence it was not opening when 9V was applied across pin 3 (+ve) and pin 4 (-ve).

Here I am using an induction cleaner on the L322 TDV8 intake. The cleaning agent is sprayed into the air intake at 3 different rev ranges & it is supposed to attack & break down the oily/diesel gunk which accumulates in the EGR valve body & the exhaust side of the turbos.
