#docker #container Generating a container from an image is easier than spending your vacation. If a configuration change is needed that can be done only during creation of container then you should export image from the container and launch new container from the image with your desired change. But sometimes you just cannot launch new container because either container id is getting used in many programs or restriction of space or any other irritating reason, now if you want to make that small change into the existing container, this tutorial helps you to solve this problem. This tutorial helps to map a port of a running docker container. If a container is already running, you can still map a new port or update existing 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲 : After following the tutorial, still you are not able to map the port of host system with the container, you need to check both config files again. If your added ports and parameters are not there, it means there was a syntax error in your parameters and that's why when you restarted the service, docker has reset both files in the original state. I'm always surprised how few people know about Docker Multistage builds. I've even see people manually try and replace a Multistage build with two regular docker builds. When you start up your first Kubernetes cluster for the first time you probably realize just how expensive cloud resources can be. So if you can reduce the size of your Docker images and containers by 85% with just 4 lines of code ... you might want to go for it! Background in Thumbnail image from Dimound via pngtree.com

This "Docker Python Tutorial #3: Copying files to a Docker container" video is about how to copy a file into a running Docker container, and how to get into a running Docker container. In this video I'm downloading jupyter/datascience-notebook. It's the third video from a small series about Docker for Python and Data Science. The main problem here is that a Docker Container is an isolated environment. And to get into a running container or to copy a file to Docker container is bit tricky. And in this video you will see how to copy files to Docker container or how to list files in it. The problem with such "copying" is that if you will stop the container your work and the copied file won't be saved. This is the problem. Because to copy files or change the state of a Container is an antipattern. Instead we have to use volumes. But this topic will be touched in the next video. Sometimes life is simple; you have a single source code repository, a single Dockerfile and you want to build and publish a single Docker image to a single container registry. In other cases you’re packaging third party content, building lots of variant images and publishing multiple tags to multiple registries at once. Based on real-world examples, in this talk we will: * Show the hello world example of building a Docker image using GitHub Actions, using the new build-push-action from Docker * Discuss techniques for building reusable Dockerfiles * Touch on the difference between packaging from source and packaging from artefacts * Build up to more advanced use cases, demonstrating the powerful combination of build arguments, multi-stage Dockerfiles and BuildKit We’ll use GitHub Actions for the demos as it’s easily accessible, and makes bringing automation closer to source code easier than ever. But the examples will all work on other platforms too. Speaker: Gareth Rushgrove, Synk Twitter: 🤍gatethr
