Welcome to Tenerife! On this walking tour, we are visiting the most beautiful village in Tenerife, hidden in the mountains - Masca. Originally this small village was a Guanche settlement, but it became a Spanish territory in 1496 after the Spaniards conquered it. The total number of people living here is 90-ish inhabitants. Lying at an altitude of 650 m in the Macizo de Teno mountains, Masca offers some unique and amazing views. Hello and welcome back to your travel channel 🌞 Today we invite you for a beautiful walking tour to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote in Canary islands in Spain. Playa Blanca is situated at southern most point of the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. It is an ideal destination for those looking for a relaxed atmosphere and great beaches. The resort is situated around 38 kilometres from capital of Arrecife and just over 30 kilometres to Lanzarote airport. Playa Blanca isn't short of activities for all ages. There are boat excursions and island hopping trips, a local spa, where you can enjoy a few hours of pampering, scuba diving, shopping and there are even some interesting cultural attractions to visit, including the Castillo de las Colorados (castle) and the Faro de Pechiguera (lighthouse). The coastline around Playa Blanca consists of a 9 kilometre long wide bay, which is split into three smaller bays. The golden, sandy beaches, shelve down into the gentle waters. The main beach of Playa Blanca has won a European blue flag for cleanliness and overall the beaches provide an excellent choice for families, and are ideal for safe swimming. Join us for a walk in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain. Our walk starts on Corralejo seafront and finishes at Corralejo harbour. Corralejo is a town on the northeast coast of Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands of Spain. Correlejo was once a traditional fishing village. Tourism began to develop in the 1970's and today Corralejo is a popular holiday destination. Corralejo is one of the two main tourist towns on the island of Fuerteventura. Thanks to the large expat population, Corralejo has a diverse population that varies from the local Spaniard, to the Italian, Irish, British, German and Finnish people who have settled in the resort. Tourism continued to develop in Corralejo through the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, reaching a peak in the 2000s. Hotels, apartments and villas sprang up. Many British and Irish tourists fell in love with Corralejo and felt happy to relocate there permanently. Throughout the 2010s, Corralejo grew significantly, with new businesses constantly opening and closing down. Corralejo is also progressively being pedestrianized, starting with Corralejo main street around 2017. Corralejo has 7 miles of fine sand starting 2 miles outside of Corralejo, alongside some smaller bays across the coast. In addition, there are several miles of sand dunes located nearby, which have been designated as a nature reserve. The waters around Corralejo are clear and an intense shade of blue, but are affected by strong currents. Ferries regularly connect the port of Corralejo with Playa Blanca in the south of Lanzarote. CORRALEJO Walking Tour, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain. Corralejo is a town and resort located on the northern tip of Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, facing the smaller islet of Lobos. It is in the municipality of La Oliva. It is surrounded to the north and east by the Atlantic Ocean, by dunes to the south and by arid desert land to the west that leads to the western coast and El Cotillo. Once a traditional fishing village, the town has grown significantly and today is one of the two main tourist towns on the island of Fuerteventura. Thanks to the large expat population, the town has a diverse population that varies from the local Spaniard, to the Italian, Irish, British, German and Finnish people who have settled in the resort. The area has 7 miles (11 km) of fine sand starting 2 miles (3.2 km) outside of Corralejo, alongside some smaller bays across the coast. In addition, there are several miles of sand dunes located nearby, which have been designated as a nature reserve. The waters around Corralejo are clear and an intense shade of blue, but are affected by strong currents. The town's beaches are somewhat more sheltered and have a band of volcanic rock along the shoreline. Corralejo has existed for most of its history as a humble and unimportant fishing village, where a handful of poor fishermen worked long hours to provide for their families. In the early 1970s, with its extraordinary beaches and expansive dunes, the tourism that had arrived in the south of the island in the 1960s began to venture north. Corralejo had very humble beginnings as a tourist resort. John Mercer, who visited the then village in the early 1970s as research for a book on the island, left a record of the humble first steps Corralejo took into the tourist industry: "The village, however, unattractive and quite without interest. Why anyone should wish to spend any time there until its development is over and the dust and noise have died down is not clear.. a visitor or a purchaser can wake up any day to find a house or a hotel starting a metre or two away." -John Mercer, Canary Islands: Fuerteventura. 1973. Mercer prophetically said that Corralejo would "long be simply a spreading building site, dominated by concrete mixers, lorries, floating discarded cement bags, falling rubble and staring whistling oafs." Tourism continued to develop in the town through the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, reaching a peak in the 2000s. Hotels, apartments and villas sprang up. Many British and Irish tourists fell in love with the resort and felt happy to relocate there permanently. In the decades following Mercer's account of Corralejo's tourist development, that same growth of the tourist industry saw the population of Corralejo and the La Oliva region grow significantly. In the 1975 census the population of La Oliva was 2,900, with that population now just above 25,000. Throughout the 2010s, the town has grown significantly, with new businesses constantly opening and closing down. The town is also progressively being pedestrianized, starting with the town's main street around 2017 (however this decision to pedestrianize streets has received its share of criticism from the townsfolk). Vandalism has also risen with the long-abandoned replica of the Santa Maria galleon in the old "Europa Baku" theme park having been burned down by vandals in May 2019. Our virtual walking tour of Costa Teguise in winter begins by Playa del Jablillo at the end of Av. del Jabillo, a good starting point to explore Costa Teguise's restaurants and bars. Many of the town's hotels are situated here too. And even in winter, you'll find Costa Teguise bars and cafes busy, as the Lanzarote weather is good all year around. Our Costa Teguise tour also takes in a walk along the promenade by Playa de las Cucharas, before exploring more of the town. We end with a tour of the hotel Grand Teguise Playa. Let this epic Gran Canaria road trip begin! USEFUL TIPS ABOUT YOUR GRAN CANARIA ROAD TRIP - Parking in Gran Canaria is relatively easy. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and other large towns, always look for the right parking line colour. White lines mean you can park for free. Blue lines mean you can park for a fee that you can pay at the nearest ticket machine. Stay away from yellow and green parking lines. Alternatively, you can park in a large parking lot for a fee. Sometimes, your car rental company may offer free parking near your hotel. - More often than not, there are more than one ways to get from point A to B. Taking the ferry from Playa Blanca, Lanzarote to Corralejo, we find out what is it like in Corralejo, Fuerteventura in winter? Find the best beaches in the Canary Islands, the main strip and it's bars and restaurants and the high street in this full walking tour. Join us for some winter sun in this beautiful beach town in the Canary Islands. All our video's are ideal for Relaxation, Meditation, treadmill or exercise bike use and are free to use. We start at the Corralejo Ferry Port, arriving on a Lineas Romero ferry from Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. (Corralejo makes a great day trip from Lanzarote as the journey is only 30 minutes and 35 Euros per person.) Having walked from the port we immediately find ourselves among Corralejo's bars and restaurants nestled along the waterfront. This main strip along the Correlejo waterfront gets sun for most of the day - but as the sun gets low, people tend to move to the back streets for the last of the day's sun. There are a number of Corralejo beaches along the main strip - Playa la Clavellina (Playa Corralejo), Playa Las Clavellinas (Playa de Corralejo Viejo) and Playa Waikiki (Waikiki Beach Corralejo.) We also explore the high street, Av. Ntra. Sra. del Carmen, to what Corralejo shopping opportunities are here. This video was filmed at the beginning of March, and the temperature reached around 25 degrees - so you can get an idea of the Fuerteventura weather in winter/spring. The city center has well-preserved colonial-style buildings, such as the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Fans of wandering thoughtfully through the old streets will love the local Rambla, that is, the main street (Rambla de Santa Cruz). We will walk today in only one part of the centre city.
