A guide to help fix the random crashes that happen when using amd gpu and catalyst control. 🤍 UPDATE: Judging from the comments this works for some people and not work for others well here is a possible fix. Windows released some updates a while back and few years ago which mess up your video out black screen and the blue screen problem. While they did tell us to uninstall it they never released a patch for those that didn't. There are quite a few but this one of the most notorious one I know of (KB2670838). Here what to do. 1. go to "control panel" 2.click on "program and features" 3.on the left hand side click on "view installed updates" 4.copy and paste (KB2670838) to the "search bar" located in the top right corner 5.If you have the update uninstall (it's ok it was optional won't effect your system) 6.restart PC should be working now. This can fix games not loading or giving a blank black screen when launched as well as fraps just having a black screen. There tutorials you can find on youtube about rubbish updates from windows that cause BSoD and how uninstall them. Hope this helps and remember there are other updates that can cause this too. One more useful tip for fixing blue screen of death. I the above did not work or the video, open your PC and remove all the memory except one stick (do this when PC is shut down). 1. Boot the PC 2. When PC is fully booted run a program or something that usually makes the PC crash (stress the memory). 3. Stress for 10 Minutes 4. If it did not fail shut down and add another memory stick 5. Repeat step 1 & 2, do this until you have used all memory sticks 6. If you get a blue screen of death in any of the steps, shit down PC and remove the memory stick and start the process again without it. This process will help you identify a bad memory module which can also lead to BSoD
The AMD Radeon R6 has had faulty drivers since version 20.11.2 / 18th November 2020 onwards which caues a strange colour shift in many full-screen games - except when there are certain overlays displayed. Volume, Brightness and Xbox Game Bar make the game appear normal but the Radeon overlays don't. Update: The last drivers that appear to work without this issue are version 20.11.1 (6th November 2020)

All AMD Radeon GPU users need to delete these files on their Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs to save dozens of gigabytes of storage! After installing/updating Radeon Software, a folder is created in C:\AMD. However, after updating to a newer version these older folders aren't automatically deleted. They serve no purpose and are completely safe to delete. Make sure to empty your Recycle Bin as well to actually get the storage back. UPDATED VIDEO: 🤍 Join The Discord! 🤍 So, my graphics card was crashing ever since I bought it back in October, I wasn't able to fix it trying many different things and spending a bunch of money on stuff I didn't need to. I looked at the AMD drivers to try to find a dated version and found enterprise drivers, I watched a video to see if there was an impact on gaming and there was next to no impact even a small performance boost in some games. I was about to sell my XFX 6600 XT and move to an Nvidia 3060 but now after seeing how well this card has been working when it's not crashing (So Far) I think I will keep it. I like the AMD driver software and options as well and didn't wanna go back to Nvidia but so far it's looking like I shouldn't have to. Adrenaline drivers are very bad don't use them. The Laptop was purchased online from Dell and came with 1) Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and 2) AMD Radeon HD 6470M - 1GB display card. Recently, I had a problem where my laptop just wouldn't boot up, showing the blue screen everytime it tries to boot up. The Blue screen mentions a problem with the atikmpag.sys file which I understand is the driver for the AMD video card. If I remove/rename the atikmpag.sys and atikmdag.sys files (through safe boot mode) in C:/windows/system32/drivers, the laptop boots up (no blue screen), but obviously doesn't recognize the display card. After a lot of unsuccessful debugging tries on my own (including trying to upgrade the display drivers etc.)., I reinstalled the OS and the drivers that came with the original kit (just to remove any possibility of an upgrade gone bad). However, I still see the issue. = Final: the problem you are describing is actually a hardware fault. There is nothing you can do, except replacing a laptop motherboard, or taking it to some advanced IT technicians, which will replace or reball GPU chip. Do not waste your time, just reinstall OS, then install the display drivers, which are available at the official DELL Support website, and after that - if it doesn't works, just do what I said. Mostly these are consequences of overheating the laptop, but as this was certainly not my case (I was doing regular service checks), I could even bet on bad quality GPU chips, which was used in manufacturing of this laptop model... again.... UPDATE: Okay, last night was a very long night for me, and I can finally confirm - it is that * AMD chip, that's causing the blue screen you mentioned. I disassembled my faulty, armed with heatgun, temperature sensor (probe), and tons of aluminum foil + some soldering flux, I did a reasonably quick reflow, and the result is just what I expected - everything works perfectly again, with the very same setup - even with very same Windows installation, which was throwing those blue screens. Now there is no blue screens at all, and laptop performs like new. Apparently bad soldering, when this laptop was manufactured, is the exact reason, why we are where we are. That BGA chip wasn't dead at all (it was just badly soldered). The same story, which HP and bunch of other companies had a while ago with those NVIDIA chips (I'm sure, some of you guys know, what I'm talking about). CONCLUSION: DELL built-in diagnostics software is useless against detecting faults with a discrete AMD graphics card. Problem wasn't in software or drivers - it was just a badly soldered chip (I regulary cleaned my laptop from dust, so overheating is not an option here).
